28th Annual Educator of the Year

Congratulations
Anthony Gebbia
Spring Valley High School
2019 Educator of the Year

Congratulations to the five teachers selected as finalists for the 28th Annual Kiwanis Educator of the Year.  The educator finalists, their school principals, and some school district dignitaries were hosted on April 10th 2019 at the Stratosphere Tower for the awards luncheon by the Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas.  Each year, by the qualities of the many nominees we know there are many outstanding educators in our high schools.  It was a difficult decision for the committee to select the top five finalists.

The Educator of the Year program, now in its 28th year, was founded by the Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas in 1992 to recognize outstanding “Unsung Education Heroes” at the High School level in the Clark County School District (CCSD). The program was the brainchild of Kiwanian Ned L. Jacobs, who had been Director of Kaplan Education Corporation in San Diego before becoming Executive Director of the Lied Children’s Discovery Museum in Las Vegas.
The inaugural Educator of the year Awards was held on April 29, 1992, at the Port Tack Restaurant.  Seventeen educators were recognized.  Kiwanis Club President Bruce Dickinson presided, Gray Waddell served as master of Ceremonies and CCSD Superintendent Brian Cram presented the Awards.
It is important to note that several of the honorees over the years were Varsity Quiz Coaches and Key Club Advisors who had played important roles in our Youth Benefit and Sponsored Youth Programs.

Our Thanks To:
